NOTICE 27/05/12: As of now the owner of the flying club bar/cafe has withdrawn it's use to SPOTTERS unless you are a member. This is due to the constant abuse by people turning up to use the facilities and not even buying a cuppa !!

Future Events

The following is a list of events which I consider will provide additional aircraft to visit Cardiff Airport or Cardiff Heliport 


GENERAL EVENTS
27 March 2012 - Vuelling Airlines start service to Barcelona - three flights per week on Tues, Thurs and Sat - Outbound flight times are 12:35 ex CWL with arrival in Barcelona(BCN) at 15:35
May 2012 - The Olympic Torch ceremony reaches Cardiff and possible traffic connected with this may take place
3 June 2012 - "Newmarket" Holidays charter flight to Italy - returns on 11 June 2012
7 June 2012 - BBMF Dakota due to display at RAF St Athan
30 June 2012 - Flypast of BBMF Dakota due to take place over Cardiff [Bay area?]
23 July 2012 - RAF Dakota and Spitfire due to arrive at CWL after flypast/display at Royal Welsh Show Builth Wells and Weston Super Mare. Aircraft are planned to stop over to perform similar on 24 July and finally depart for Builth Wells on the 25th July.
25 July 2012 - The first event [Ladies football] of the Olympics take place in Millennium Stadium. Eleven football matches due to be played in Cardiff over the following weeks. 
July 2012 - The 2012 Round Britain Race will be a simultaneous Air, Sea and Land race around Britain. One of the air legs will involve Swansea with 50 aircraft expected, please refer to http://www.rb12.com/air_route.html 
17 September 2012 "Atlantic" Holidays holiday charter to Madeira direct from Cardiff

14 October 2012 - "Newmarket" holidays charter flight to Italy - returns on 22 October 2012 - 
23-27 October 2013 -  Cardiff will host the annual gathering of the world music industry, Womex. In addition to the concerts, the 2013 event, to run from, is expected to attract around 650 companies from more than 90 countries for the fair trade exhibition.
Up to 60 concerts featuring more than 300 artists will be held in various locations in the city.
It is described "the most important international professional market of world music of every kind" and some suggest that is to music what the Cannes Festival is to film.


SPORTS EVENTS
GOLF

July 2014 - It is believed that Golf's Senior Open Championship will be played in Wales at the famous Royal Porthcawl course.
Royal Porthcawl is likely to host warm-up events prior to the 28th Seniors Open and become the 12th course to host the prestigious senior tournament.


FOOTBALL

Wales World Cup Qualifying Matches/Fixtures are planned as follows :-
Friday, 7th September 2012 - Wales v Belgium
Tuesday, 11th September 2012 - Serbia v Wales
Friday, 12th October 2012 - Wales v Scotland
Tuesday, 16th October 2012 - Croatia v Wales
Friday, 22nd March 2013 - Scotland v Wales
Tuesday, 26th March 2013 - Wales v Croatia
Friday, 6th September 2013 - Macedonia v Wales
Tuesday, 10th September 2013 - Wales v Serbia
Friday, 11th October 2013 - Wales v Macedonia
Tuesday, 15th October 2013 - Belgium v Wales



As seen above Swansea City Football are in the Premier Division and the airport are likely to have regular visitors. Any known flights will be published as /when known but at present time the following may be considered as possible dates 
10 Mar [Man City] 7 Apr [Newcastle] and 13 May [Liverpool]


Also there is chance that Cardiff City will continue to fly to destinations as well as recieve the odd flight inbound.

European Rugby Schedule is as follows
Cardiff were successful in reaching the knock out stages and now have to travel to Ireland over the weekend of 5-8 April 201. If they manage that they are away during the weekend of April 27-29 2012 with the final in Twickerham in May 18-20
